When the weather gets colder it can be heartbreaking thinking about putting away all of your favorite summer looks until it warms up again. Luckily, we’ve thought of some ways you can create an outfit that incorporates those summer pieces into your winter closet. You can take your favorite warm-weather pieces into the cold months in order to wear your closet year-round.
Long sleeves are your friend.
With 90’s trends re-emerging, layering long sleeves under tanks and dresses has come back in style. Try layering a turtleneck under your favorite spaghetti-strap dress or a long-sleeve shirt underneath a silky top. The key to this kind of layering is simple: make sure the colors compliment each other and the materials don’t clash — you don’t want to take away from the fashion statement you’re making!
Tights are your accessories.
Tights come in endless amounts of colors and patterned designs for you to choose from. Any skirt, shorts, dress, or romper you rocked during the summertime easily becomes a fashionable winter piece with a pair of tights. Whether you choose a bold color or a fun pattern, this is the perfect way to accessorize your outfit and stay warm at the same time.
Dresses with pants CAN be fashionable.
That cute sheer dress you rocked all summer can turn into a winter look when you layer it over a pair of pants. This may seem like a 90’s fashion nightmare, but trust us — it can be done. Try to layer a lightweight, shorter dress over a pair of fitted pants and top. The key to pulling off this look is to keep the colors simple: If you keep your pants and top under the dress to a monochromatic palette — like black — this won’t look overdone like some of the crazy combinations seen from the ghosts of red carpets past.
